Bryan VanCampen (co-director/producer) is pleased, after
a nearly 20-year career as a film critic and feature writer, to be making
his first film. Bryan is a native of Ithaca, New York, and has been active
in the arts and entertainment scene since a very young age. Bryan is a
feature writer and film critic for the Ithaca Times, and has
worked for 16 years as the entertainment editor for NewsCenter 7. For
11 years, he co-hosted "Take Two," a "Siskel and Ebert"-style
film review show that aired on PEGASYS, the local community access channel.
Prior to that, he wrote film reviews for The Grapevine.
He has also taught video production for several years at the Ithaca Youth
Bureau Day Camp, Lansing Community Center and the Cornell Adult University
summer sessions. Under his tutelage, young people aged 8 to 18 learned
how to make a short film in one week. Bryan studied theatre arts at SUNY-New
Paltz for three semesters, and went on to earn an A.S. degree in Television
and Radio from Tompkins Cortland Community College. While a student there,
he wrote, starred in, co-produced and scored a hilarious short video called
"In Search of the Perfect PBJ", which earned him top honors
in his class. He also starred in and co-produced "The Last Stand,"
an absurdist piece written by Ken Pardee, about three housemates who watch
way too much TV.
He has performed in over 40 plays, including acclaimed roles in Ben Elton's
"Gasping" and different roles in two productions of Larry Shue's
"The Foreigner." He has also directed for the theater, notably
a 60's-drenched vision of "Much Ado About Nothing", set to music
by the Beatles.
A guitarist and bass player for nearly 30 years, Bryan is also pursuing
various music scoring projects, and hopes to complete his first solo album
soon.
